Why ordinary straps end up in a knot
It is not you. It is three metres of webbing with nowhere to go.
An ordinary ratchet strap is eleven feet of webbing and a buckle. Once the load is tight, everything you did not use is still there — hanging off the tailgate, dragging on the road, or stuffed into the box behind the seat with the other five. How does the retraction work?
Press the button on the housing and the slack winds itself in, the way a tape measure does. You then crank the ratchet tight exactly as you always have. Nothing about the tightening changes.
What will they hold?
1,550 lb break strength each. A mower, an appliance, a motorcycle, a kayak on a roof rack, a load of boxes in an open bed.
Will the mechanism break?
It is the one moving part an ordinary strap does not have, so it is a fair question. Hold the strap while it retracts rather than letting it snap back — that is the one thing that shortens the life of a retracting mechanism, and it is on the instruction card.
Will the hooks mark my paint?
The S-hooks are coated. For anchor points where you would rather have no hook at all, the matching soft-loop ties are in every set.
Can I use them on a motorcycle?
