SEESE PRO – Retractable Ratchet Straps

Hook one end, pull the strap across, press the button and the slack winds itself back in. Crank it tight the way you always have. The tangled pile at the back of your truck was never the job — it was the straps.

  • You never untangle a strap againPress the button and the slack winds itself back into the housing. When you are done it rolls itself up — no loose tail, no knot, no three minutes on your knees in the truck bed.
  • Nobody has to hold the other endSpring clips that stay where you put them while you walk round the vehicle. The strap does not fall off the anchor point behind you.
  • They stop rolling around your floorA drawstring bag comes with every set. The straps live in it instead of in a pile at the back of the truck.

“I bought these because I was done untangling straps on my knees in the dark. First load, I hooked one end, walked round the truck, and it was still on the anchor when I got there — that had never once happened with my old ones.

Then when I was finished they wound themselves back into the housing and went in the bag. My father-in-law watched me do the whole thing and asked where I got them. I ordered him a set the same night.”

Why ordinary straps end up in a knot

It is not you. It is three metres of webbing with nowhere to go.

A strap that cannot put its own tail away

An ordinary ratchet strap is eleven feet of webbing and a buckle. Once the load is tight, everything you did not use is still there — hanging off the tailgate, dragging on the road, or stuffed into the box behind the seat with the other five. Nothing is holding it, so it does what loose webbing does.

That is the whole reason a box of straps turns into one knot. Not carelessness — there was simply nowhere for the tail to go.

A trigger asks nothing of your grip

Here the housing takes the tail back. Your hand only tells it when, the way a light switch tells a bulb when. The effort of the cut moved off your hand and into a brushless motor, so the two hundredth cut costs exactly what the first one cost.

It also changes what you can reach: with one hand on the tool, the other is free to hold the load steady instead of wrestling webbing.

And why two batteries matter more than run time

A hedge does not become two afternoons because a battery is small. It becomes two afternoons because you stop, put it on charge, and find something else to do. With one pack working and one charging, the job ends when the load is tied.

What changes, week by week

THE FIRST LOAD

You stop untangling

  • Hook one end, pull across, press the button, crank it tight
  • The slack winds itself in instead of hanging off the tailgate
  • No three minutes on your knees sorting out a knot
  • You are strapped down before you would normally have started
THE WHOLE DRIVE

Nothing shifts

  • 1,550 lb break strength, and a locking mechanism that holds it
  • No pulling over at the first roundabout to check the load
  • S-hooks that stay on the anchor point instead of jumping off
  • You stop watching the mirror instead of the road
WHEN YOU UNLOAD

They put themselves away

  • Release, and each one rolls back into its own housing
  • Into the drawstring bag, not into a pile on the floor
  • Next time you need them, they are ready instead of knotted
  • The bag lives in the truck and takes up no room

The questions nobody answers on a product page

The tail winds itself in, the clips hold when you let go, and the set lives in a bag.

The mess was never your fault
An ordinary ratchet strap has three metres of webbing and nowhere to put it. It hangs, it drags, it knots itself in the box. These wind the tail back into the housing, so there is nothing left over to tangle.
“Can you hold my side?”
The reason you ask is that the hook drops off the anchor the moment you walk round the vehicle. Spring clips close behind the hook and stay where you put them.
They stop living on the floor of your truck
Every set comes with a drawstring bag. That is the difference between straps you own and straps you can find.
A grey strap is invisible at night
Fluorescent webbing, so you can see where the strap runs in a dark garage or on a verge before dawn — and so can the person behind you.
Hooks that do not mark what you are tying down
Anti-scratch S-hooks, and matching soft-loop ties for the anchor points a hook cannot take — a motorcycle frame, a painted rack, a chromed bar.

  • You have asked someone to hold the other end
  • A hook has dropped off the anchor while you walked round
  • You have driven with one eye on the mirror instead of the road
  • You have looked for a strap in the dark and not found it
  • You have marked paint or chrome with a bare hook
  • You need a set for somebody who already owns everything

My father-in-law asked where I got them
He has had the same tangled ball of straps in his truck for fifteen years. I loaded a mower with these in front of him and he did not say a word for about ten seconds.

Nobody has to hold the other end
That was the bit I did not expect. You hook it, you walk round, and it is still on the anchor when you get there.

They live in the bag now
Before, there were four straps somewhere under the back seat and I could never find two that matched. Now they are in one bag and they come out ready.

I bought a second set for my dad
He moves furniture for half the family. He rang me the day after he used them, which he does not do.

Frequently asked questions

How does the retraction work?

Press the button on the housing and the slack winds itself in, the way a tape measure does. You then crank the ratchet tight exactly as you always have. Nothing about the tightening changes.

What will they hold?

1,550 lb break strength each. A mower, an appliance, a motorcycle, a kayak on a roof rack, a load of boxes in an open bed.

Will the mechanism break?

It is the one moving part an ordinary strap does not have, so it is a fair question. Hold the strap while it retracts rather than letting it snap back — that is the one thing that shortens the life of a retracting mechanism, and it is on the instruction card.

Will the hooks mark my paint?

The S-hooks are coated. For anchor points where you would rather have no hook at all, the matching soft-loop ties are in every set.

Can I use them on a motorcycle?

Yes, and that is what the soft loops are for — you pass them round the frame or the bars and hook onto the loop instead of onto the bike.

Two or four?

Two holds most single loads. Four is what you want for anything you cross over the top, and it is the set people buy as a gift.

What is in the set?

Two or four retractable ratchet straps, the same number of soft-loop ties, and a drawstring bag.
